Kink: A Tale of Extreme Horror - The Barns Brothers, Crowley Barns

Cassie and Rich have been texting for a few days, and now it’s time to meet.
No commitments, no strings. Just one afternoon of rough, and kinky fun.
She has a very detailed fantasy, and she knew Rich was the guy to fulfill her every dark, twisted, and violent desire.

HOW WRONG COULD IT GO?

Her text told him to arrive at 4:15.
Not 4:14. Not 4:16. Exactly 4:15.
All of her instructions were very… precise, (read: anal). But, you gotta love a girl who knows what she wants! Playing the aggressor in a violent fantasy with a smokin’ hot, older woman sounds freakin’ HOT – Rich just hopes he can immerse himself into her fantasy completely.

How can one compulsively planned & timed afternoon go to $hit so fast? How did things get so terribly, darkly, and disturbingly fv<ked up?

Never give one person your complete trust. Ever.

Chaturbate's Castrations: A Tale of Sex and Horror - Matt Shaw

CHATURBATE:

1: A blend of the words "chat" and "masturbate".   2: The act of masturbating while chatting online.  3: A website for both of the above. 4:  The new extreme horror from Matt Shaw that pushes the boundaries of taste & decency.

Who Needs A 5 Star Rating?
Chaturbate's Castrations - 5/5 Deadly Dildos

They logged in for the show. They didn't expect to be the star.

Bunni's webcam site needs a boost in numbers. More viewers, and more tips. But, she already offers it all, doesn't she?  Exhibitionism, role-play, daddy-play... Then it hits her - people are always looking for harder, and darker.  She needs to show her viewers just how hard, and dark she can get!  (Once she figures it out, that is!) With the help of one regular viewer, Bunni is preparing to put on a show like she's never done before. She loses any, and all inhibitions once she finds the right head-space - she might even enjoy this! One thing is for sure... this is going to be a show that her viewers will never forget.

Garden of Fiends

Garden of Fiends: Tales of Addiction Horror - Johann Thorsson, Max Booth III, Glen Krisch, Jessica McHugh, Kealan Patrick Burke, Mark Matthews, Jack Ketchum

 * The reality of addiction is darker than any fiction. *

"Drinking and drugging provide the height of human experience.

It's the promise of heaven on earth,

but the hell that follows is a constant hunger, a cold emptiness."

Before I read even one story in this 'reality horror' anthology - Mark Matthews had me crying so hard that I could barely see. He presents an addiction anthology with compassion, casting no aspersions on anyone. I wan't to meet Mark Matthews, and give him the tightest hug ever.

"Imagine yourself drowning and being told not to swim to the surface for air. Obsessions should be so mild."

I'll have the full review posted soon - I was going over my notes for this review, and I'm bawling again.

Mary Blake: A Nasty Novelette - Sam West

Fifteen years ago, Casey Brown and her college friends did something very, very bad to an innocent girl.

What really happened to poor Mary Blake that night?

There are whispers in the woods that surround that old abandoned house. Urban legends are repeated, and sightings of their usual suspects are sworn on – by a friend of a friend of that guy’s second cousin who knew a dude who swears they saw ‘He/She/It’ one dark, and stormy night. Bloody Mary, the Slit-Mouth Woman, Click Clack, the Slender Man… they aren’t the only boogeymen in those woods…
People say that the house is haunted by it’s original owner… The things that Mr. Jones did to his wife and two daughters went way beyond ‘slaughter’ – the depravity of his actions makes the family’s eventual slaughter a blessing.

Now, Casey’s nightmares are invading her waking life.
Mary Blake is back, and she’s not alone.
Only the truth will set her free.

Part Two of I WAS JACK THE RIPPER by Michael Bray

I was Jack The Ripper (Part Two): : A Serialised novel based on the Whitechapel Murders - Michael Bray
Everybody knows of the terrible Murders which took place in Whitechapel, England in 1888. The notorious Jack the Ripper was responsible for the mutilation and murder of five women before he slipped away into the night never to be seen again. In this blend of fiction based on fact, Writer Charles Hapgood comes face to face with the a man claiming ripper himself years after the last brutal murder took place, and is intent on telling the story of how he was transformed from a regular child to the evil beast that he became. As Hapgood hears the story unfold, his initial skepticism is challenged by his unexpected visitor’s extensive knowledge of the crimes. As Hapgood listens, he is plunged into a world of madness, squalor, abuse and manipulation when his visitor tells how his hatred for women was countered by a desire to love and be loved, and how when obsession turns to rejection, an ordinary man can go to extraordinary lengths when he feels there is no other option left but to become a monster. In part Two, Miller continues to confide in Hapgood about the events that transformed him from man to the monster he would become, causing Hapgood to question his own morals when more shocking and tragic details of Miller's life are told.

Mr. Bray sure did his research before putting these stories together, and I'm enjoying my visit in 1893 Whitechapel with him as my guide. Miller makes a new friend near the end of Part Two - and I can't wait to see where the story is going to go in Part 3! Miller recognizes the man right away - you will too ::winks::   I was Jack The Ripper (Part Two) on Amazon, and Goodreads Michael Bray on Amazon, and Goodreads Check out Part One of I was Jack The Ripper

Rayne some Havok on your bookshelves!

XXX - Rayne Havok

Xavier: "I escaped from prison, hauling ass in a stolen car, putting space between me and that barbed wire fence- when the damn thing runs out of gas. Luckily, I come across an old farmhouse that looks empty, even luckier, it is not. The threats about daddy coming home don't scare me... maybe they should have."
Yeah, Xavier... maybe they should have!!
'XXX' is my first book by Rayne Havok, (what a kick-ass name!). I hate to say this, but I don't think I'd heard of her until I read Shaun Hupp's Maniacs with Knives last week. Her blurb for Shaun was so awesome that I had to meme* it for the book's review! Last night, as I was frantically trying to find out what happened to Tim Miller's newest release (Snuff Film - it was missing from Amazon last night - boo!!)  (UPDATE: I JUST read that Snuff Film is banned from Amazon - is there any better advertising than that?! I compare it to the recommendation, ahem - I mean warning labels on Rx bottles.) , and  I saw on Goodreads that Tim is currently reading her books. (Our circles definitely overlap. I don't know why I haven't read this until now.) I recognized a few other names in the reviews, too, but I was already sold. At that point I was just trying to figure out which book I wanted to read first.
Back to the story!
Like most of her books, XXX is a short story, (appx 67 pgs), so when I first started reading I thought I was in for a story that I've read dozens of times already... 'escaped prisoner on the run terrorizes family in secluded house in BFE...' . That is NOT a bad thing! I like those stories and was looking forward to seeing how this author spun it. But I was WRONG! Holy shit, what a ride. It was hard to read at a couple points -
"TORTURE: NEW AND IMPROVED!! Now, with sprinkles!"
When I was about 3/4 into the story, Rayne snuck** up behind me and whacked me in the back of the head with it! It's a great, twisty ending - and... one that I didn't see coming. I'm looking forward to reading her other books. I trying to decide which one to read next - I think it's going to be either The Embalmer, or Degenerate. Keep your eyes peeled... there'll be more reviews to come!

I'm interested to see how the characters develop through the series.

The Early Years (The MisFit Book 1) - AB Plum
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Please don't pass up reading The Misfit because of the three star rating here. The first chapter caught me, but after that - I, personally, just couldn't get invested in it. The story did pick up towards the end, and I think I will give the next book in the series a shot. I'm interested in seeing where it goes, and how the character develops.

I hope EVERYONE reads this book, and recommends it to friends.

Odd Man Out - Pete Kahle, James R. Newman

WELCOME TO THE BLACK MOUNTAIN CAMP FOR BOYS!

Summer, 1989. It is a time for splashing in the lake and exploring the wilderness, for nine teenagers to bond together and create friendships that could last the rest of their lives. But among this group there is a young man with a secret--a secret that, in this time and place, is unthinkable to his peers. When the others discover the truth, it will change each of them forever. They will all have blood on their hands.

This was a painful book to read. Not only because of 'THE SCENE', (which was very difficult to get through, too), but because of the subject matter. I'm sure you've read/watched 'THE GIRL NEXT DOOR' by now... remember how you felt throughout that entire book/movie? THAT is why ODD MAN OUT is painful. That feeling of helplessness in the pit of (y)our stomach(s). The author's writing made me feel like I was right there in cabin #7, but despite my screams... the story continued. Even when you think it's over... NOPE! That's when the questions start coming. ODD MAN OUT is a story that is going to stick with me/us. Sneaky, sneaky Mr. Newman ::winks::

"[Odd Man Out] pulls back the veil to reveal hatred and violence for what it truly is - far too common and simple." - Rev. Amanda Hendler-Voss

I hope EVERYONE reads this book, and recommends it to friends. It is going to turn some people around, and that's a good thing. P, L & N ♥  ~sg
5/5 Knives for ODD MAN OUT

SHOUT OUT to Rev. Amanda Hendler-Voss, born and raised right here in Detroit, MI! Woot! She wrote the book's AFTERWARD, (I won't bestow the 'Michigan Madman' moniker on her ;)). I've wanted to quote her throughout this whole review! It's beautifully written - very strong, and motivational.

“INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE” – “FROM HELL”

I was Jack The Ripper (Part One): A Serialised novel based on the Whitechapel Murders - Michael Bray

It's been five years since the grisly events in Whitechapel, and the man believed responsible for the crimes, Jack the Ripper, has yet to be captured. Charles Hapgood is writing a book about the murders, and has agreed to meet with someone who has information on the case. Everything about this meeting is unusual, so when the writer invited the stranger into his home at 9:00 p.m., he is already on edge. The man introduces himself as Mr. Miller, and begins to tell Hapgood that he would like to hire him to write his memoirs. Ignoring Hapgood's obvious irritation, and his many requests to leave, Miller finally brings the conversation back around to the murders, and Annie Chapman. He produces a piece of evidence, unknown to everyone but the investigators, and Charles Hapgood finally understands. The man sitting in front of him is Jack the Ripper, and he has a story to tell. We've heard the theories, seen the movies, and researched the case online for ourselves. We KNOW this story. Right? Wrong. Michael Bray takes us deeper, and gives us a voyeuristic introspective of the MAKING of the Ripper.

MANIACS WITH KNIVES: UNAPOLOGETIC HORROR FROM SHAUN HUPP

Maniacs with Knives: Unapologetic Horror - Shaun Hupp

To a regular person, they’re just tools. . .
A chef uses them to prepare a meal.
A surgeon uses them to save lives.
To the maniacs in this story, however. . .
Theirs is a much darker purpose.
For them, the first cut is NOT the deepest. It’s just the beginning. . .

This is Book 1 in the Maniacs with Knives Series, from #MichiganMadman Shaun Hupp’s Unapologetic Horror line.
The author is NOT sorry this book contains: Gore, violence, dismemberment, rape, swearing, and a dozen other things you wouldn’t want your grandmother to talk about at her Sunday church group. If you’re a sensitive reader, this book is probably NOT for you.

MEET YOUR MAIN MANIACS!

Jen & Troy – Jen’s parents are out of town, and she just wants to have a little fun with her boyfriend, Troy.  She hears noises and thinks that Troy, being the wonderful boyfriend that he is, has snuck inside while she was in the shower to fulfill one of her kinkier fantasies.  She finally finds him, but realizes that something is wrong when he turns around… Troy wouldn’t be wearing her dad’s face as a mask. Oh shit!

“Guys that wear other peoples faces don’t get scared.”

Kim & Rich have been married for 5 years. She loves him, and he beats her. But he always says he’s sorry, so it’s OK (I just rolled my eyes so hard I saw my brain).  The past couple of days have been especially bad, though – so Kim ruining tonight’s dinner was the straw that broke Rich’s back.  What happened next was just a simple accident – one that could have been avoided if they had any ketchup in the house.

Alex & Owen begin as strangers in a bar, drinking & telling stories. The tales get taller as they tend to do when alcohol is involved, so can we believe Owen when he confesses that he’s the infamous Bay River Slasher – the most prolific serial killer to never get caught? Probably, because the ‘Holy Shit’ moment comes when Alex finally tells Owen who HE really is.

Ben & Erin are my absolute favorite characters! ‘Ben’ – The Artist, and Erin – The Masterpiece.  ‘Ben’ has been reading too many books by Matt Shaw, and wants to be Art when he grows up. Erin just wants these things taken off of her face!

Each story continues as the book progresses, meshing together here and there, and proving to be one of my main sources of hilarity so far this year! ESPECIALLY ‘Ben’ & Erin’s parts. I have FIVE highlights showing where I busted out laughing, and exactly what I was thinking as I tried not to pee my pants.  I don’t want to spoil all the fun, so I’ll refrain from sharing all my twisted, and hilarious thoughts. Just promise me two things… check out my full review to enjoy the full effect, and when you’re reading this book and you get to Loc 1443, play a ‘BOING!’ sound effect. Then finish up and come back here so we can chat and giggle!

DOLLS by Matt Shaw

Dolls - Matt Shaw

Synopsis:

“He understood why she did it. She had lost her own baby – one conceived by the unwanted advances of a sexual predator – and hated thinking of them out there in the cemetery, alone and cold. She had to bring them into the warm. She had to give them the life they’d otherwise never live. It was her mission. But with each new doll brought home, her yearning for a living child of her own continued to grow. Yes, he knew why she did it but – even so – he wasn’t able to stand by her and he knew she was going to get a lot worse before she got better. But how do you help someone who doesn’t want to be helped? And how do you turn your back on your own sister?”

IDK what stopped me from reading this title earlier, (published 02.02.16), but I’m happy that I finally did! DOLLS feels like one of Matt Shaw‘s older titles – it’s not a black cover, not an extreme extreme horror, and the core story totally sucked me in. I was 100% invested right from Jump Street. Now, as embarrassing as this might be, I gotta tell ya… I didn’t see the ‘oh holy shit’ moment until about 5 words before it was revealed to us! I love that Matt can still do that after all these years, and all these books.

Where the Monsters Live: A Tale of Revenge by Duncan Ralston

Where the Monsters Live - Duncan Ralston

How far would you go for revenge?

Synopsis:

When a six-year-old girl is abused and left for dead by a pedophile known only as the “Rabbit Man” due to the claw marks left on her body, police follow every lead but reach only dead ends.

Hungry for justice, her grieving father abandons wife and child on a harrowing journey deep undercover into Miami’s sex offender colony under the Julia Tuttle Causeway. His purpose is simple: to find the “Rabbit Man” among them, and put him in the ground.

Months later, with no one to trust and the pedophiles he lives among growing suspicious of his actions, he learns nothing is simple where the monsters live.

Hoppy Easter! Come see what I put in your basket...

WHERE THE MONSTERS LIVE is NOT an extreme horror story, but I still want you to have a little ‘heads up’ before you start reading.

The story is not super graphic in an icky way, but it's emotionally graphic. WTML will sucker punch you right in the feels. It's a disturbing story, and the 'uncomfort' level rises drastically if you have a child of your own.
I didn’t notice just HOW 'emotionally graphic' it was until The Dark Defender woke up to ask me what was wrong, and I had tears streaming down my cheeks.

At one point I thought I knew exactly how this story was going to end (we’ll talk about that once you finish reading). That wouldn’t have made it a suck story – but I am happy that WTML didn’t go for the ‘ironic twist’, and I’m very satisfied with how it’s wrapped up – there could be a little wiggle room JIC case the story isn’t done with us yet.
